PROPOSED SWIMMING POOL LOCATION
The red dot (Bowling Green 2) shows the best site for the proposed new community outdoor pool. Please note, this site is not the location of the Old Swimming Pool, which is too far from necessary infrastructure and provides habitat for the park's wildlife. Accessible by public transport, the cycle network and flat access from Blue Badge parking. Part of the established recreational area for the community. Ideally connected to the children’s play area.
Locations outside the park that have been proposed for a lido, for example a brownfield site in Fishponds or the old Bingo hall (shown on the map), would be prohibitively expensive for a community project, commanding property developer prices. Also a brownfield site would lack the versatility and attractiveness of a park-based lido located near to other park facilities. An in-park site developed in collaboration with the Council is how it can be both financially feasible & most valuable for the community.
